road trip

Road trip to Las Vegas with Clyde, Kelly and Mom. We rented a van and it was packed full of our stuff. The drive is 4+ hours depending on how long our stops are. We ate lunch in Barstow (2 hour drive) at Del Taco and stopped in Primm (at CA/NV border, 2 hours from Barstow). Primm is a couple hotels and an outlet mall about 1/2 hour from Vegas. They have great stores and Jeff likes to gamble there too. Las Vegas cousins Ruthie and Nelson met us at the outlets and watched us shop. Unfortunately we didn't buy too much and Jeff had no time to gamble. Then on to Vegas. The first night we stayed at the run down California Hotel in the downtown area (sorry no photos, may have caused indigestion) and ate dinner with Ruthie and Nelson at the Hawaiian restaurant upstairs. The food was pretty good. The next day we shopped at the new Las Vegas outlet mall most of the afternoon and then on to check into the Venetian. We had lots of fun in Las Vegas. We also shopped at The Fashion Show Mall and Miracle Mile Shops at the Planet Hollywood hotel (formally the Aladdin), gambled, went to a great new show (Le Reve), relaxed at the pool, and of course ate way too much food.

Stayed at the Venetian

I was surprised to get one of the newly renovated rooms at the Venetian. It was one of the happiest days I have had. We just stayed at the Venetian in May and had an older room. This room is more modern and super nice. We loved it and can't wait to go back.

They gave us frozen towels to cool off. It was 109 and very hot!!!
