apples, apples and more apples...

last weekend we went apple picking at oak glen with clyde, kelly, kai and mom. it was about an hour and half away from clyde and kelly's house. it was a beautiful day for apple picking...

there were 2 different sizes of bags we could buy to hold our picked apples. of course we got the bigger bag..

what is an apple???

oh, those... i have only eaten apple sauce.

mom starts picking right away

kai is picking his first apple

virginia winesaps - not too sweeet and crunchy

winesap trees everywhere filled with ripe apples and hardly anyone picking

our bag of apples. the bag held around 22 apples. it was fun but easier to just buy them...

lunch time!!!

we got some bbq. it was just ok. next time we want to bring our own picnic.

fresh apple pie. wow, that was good!!!

got some bbq corn too

last stop, we did go to another apple place but didn't take any pictures

arkansas blacks

mom waiting for her free sample (she has perfected her technique at costco over the years)

kai enjoying some apple. look, he likes it.

we could have listened to his stories all day.....as long as he kept feeding us apple slices
(arkansas black, fuji, and granny smith)

fresh fuji's

on sunday kelly made an apple tart. it was super yummy.

can't wait to go apple picking again next year....
