roy's

Nori Charred Yellow Fin Ahi
For Jeff's birthday dinner we went to Roy's in Newport Beach. Last time we ate there was in Hawaii. It wasn't very good and we had no plans to go back but I saw an ad for Roy's in a travel magazine and it looked great. So we decided to try it again. We were not disappointed this time and had a great dinner. Wish we could go all the time. Sort of felt like a little vacation to Hawaii. Our server greeted us by saying Aloha...

Sunrise at Haleakala
(tuna, hamachi, salmon, avocado & asparagus tempura roll)
This sushi was so good. We wished we would have ordered 2 of them. Yes, it was that good!!!
Gorgonzola & Spinach Crusted Salmon

Filet Mignon & Seared Tiger Shrimp

Roy's Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle

This dessert was to die for. It was just out of the oven and so hot. We have had it before but this was the best. A perfect ending to a nice dinner. We are available to go again for anyone that wants to try it. You won't be disappointed...

Sorry for the out of focus photo's. I was trying something new on my camera.

sugar cakes

Today is Jeff's Birthday!!! Last year I made him cupcakes so this year I wanted to make him another one of his favorites. Sugar cakes. They are sort of like a big cake like sugar cookie. He always buys them when he goes home to York, PA but the last trip we ran out of time and he didn't get any. Aw, so sad. He was surprised to get these to take to work for his birthday!!!

Used an ice cream scooper so that they would be the same size and shape but of course they all turned out different!!!

So nice to have my kitchen back. I really missed baking stuff even though it is very hot here.

Yum... They turned out pretty good considering I couldn't find the recipe that Jeff's Grandma gave me. In fact I can't find any of my recipes. I guess there are still boxes that are not unpacked from the renovation. I found this one on the Internet for Amish Sugar Cakes and it is pretty good.

Happy Birthday Jeff...

it's time for summer

Now that summer is here we got a new grill, a mini one but still bigger than the one we had before.

Looking good!!!

Almost done.

Here it its, finally put together...

Our first grilled dinner.
And, no... We didn't eat all that food.
The steak was raw, so we saved it for
the next day. It was very good.
